When it’s time to come down from the deck, our proprietary slide is the way to go! The light surface texture on the bedway provides a bit of friction for safety, but it’s still slick enough to provide plenty of fun.

Structural components: Recycled Structural Plastic (RSP™) RSP – Recycled Structural Plastic is extruded in house using 85% recycled HDPE #2 by weight. The formula for RSP is comprised of roughly 30% internal HDPE plastic waste, 30% post industrial milk jugs, 30% post industrial Clorox bottles and the remainder in colorant, structural fiber and UV protection. Our proprietary formula comprised of post-consumer and post-industrial plastics prevents thousands of pounds and millions of plastic bottles from entering the landfills, waterways and oceans. Structural deck systems pass the ASTM 12.4.1.3. structural integrity tests withstanding 273# / sq.ft. without failure. Walking Surfaces: SureStep™ Non Slip RSP™ Walking Surfaces: All decks, bridges, transfer stations, and all walking surfaces comprised of RSP™ with a minimum of (27) slip-resistant ridges (1/8” WIDE with 1/16” spacing) to prevent injuries by falls when wet.
Hardware: All hardware shall be stainless steel; minimum of grade 304 Stainless Steel. Hardware employs a vandal-resistant lock system. Galvanized, zinc coated or plated hardware will not be accepted. Manufacturer must validate stainless steel and country of origin. Products manufactured in China will not be accepted. Meet standards for ASTM B-117 and ASTM D-1654; ASTM-F 1487-07 6.2, CPSC 9.1-9.4: all hardware shall
be assembled such that no protrusion hazards or sharp edges exist.
Metal Components: SureGrip™ Paint - Safety Powder Epoxy Wrinkle Finish for all metal products. Specific gravity meets a calculated range of 1.2 – 1.7, direct impact resistance up to 140 in. / lb. Flexibility follows the ASTM D 522 Test Method B, with equal to or less than .25 mandrel. Pencil hardness, following ASTM D test method 3368 [greater than or equal to “H”, refer to standard]. Salt Spray resistance meets a 1000+ hour resistance rate. Humidity resistance meets a 1000+ hour resistance rate. Gloss (60°) [refer to ASTM D 523] less than 5 units.
Grade 304 Stainless Steel attachment plates, angle iron and welding wires for all applications.

Plastic Components: Rotomolded
Refer to ASTM D 1248 type 2 class A category 3 and Federal Specification LP-390 type 1, class M, grade 2: rotationally molded using polyethylene resin with wall thickness varying with the specific component’s size and stress design from ¼”, 5/16”, and 3/8” with the tolerances being plus or minus 1/16”.
All polyethylene shall contain a UV-8 maximum ultra violet stabilization package.

SureStep RSP Decks
This slip-resistant ridged RSP deck-board is our proprietary
design for increasing friction and reducing falls so children can walk
and run confidently on our products. The ridges also make the decks
cooler to the feet with less direct sun contact.
So, is plastic really environmentally friendly? YES!
We purchase post-industrial and post-consumer waste and prevent it from reaching landfills by recycling over a million pounds of plastic yearly! All Play Mart products are
made from recycled materials - primarily from post-consumer recycled HDPE plastic. Scraps and cut- offs of materials used in manufacturing are reground for extruding our plastic lumber or sorted for recycling elsewhere. By internally recycling, we have cut our use of plastic in half and saved millions of pounds of plastic from going into landfills. The end result is that roughly 50% of our RSP is from internally recycled material!

Wrinkle-Coat
We powder-coat our climbers and sliders with a uniquely strong and textured surface “wrinkle coat” to increase friction and reduce falls. Play Mart is the only playground manufacturer currently using this slip-resistant powder coat. Steel pipe is used in all metal climbers, overhead climbers, ladders, and railings.
Smooth Stainless Steel Welds
Welds are especially vulnerable to rusting due to paint chipping off and revealing raw steel beneath. But, we replaced our welding wire with Stainless Steel wire, and require our welders to create super-smooth welds, preventing jagged edges that are susceptible to chipping. This protects children from cuts, while preventing rusting in the process! Stainless Steel welds and plates have a 60% minimum recycled content.

Introducing Cloud!
This innovative material, in a contemporary grey tone, has a lightly textured, rubberized surface that provides young climbers with a better grip on climbing equipment. Rock handles stay firmly secure without spinning or turning. All playsets, as of 2020, will utilize this material for rock climbers.
In addition to rock climbers, we will incorporate the new material as flooring for all of our infant playsets. The texture is gentle to infant feet and knees, while it helps to prevent slips. The sheet also flexes under pressure, providing a friendlier feel. So, if little ones do take a tumble, the fall won’t be quite so traumatic.
Caregivers will love the non-porous, washable surface as well. Any messes can be easily hosed off.

What makes our RSP (Recycled Structural Plastic) so much better than wood or metal?

Rust on metal playgrounds is all too common, even those coated with plastic or PVC. Rust can injure children and shorten the life of the play system. When you buy Play Mart equipment, made with RSP, you don’t have to worry! RSP is designed to handle the toughest elements that nature can dish out – with no rust!
❖ Does not rot or splinter!
Wood playgrounds are gaining in popularity again, although wood is not a preferred building material for this use. Wood is susceptible to termite and bug damage, rot and splintering. It also requires a great deal of maintenance. RSP is just as easy to work with as wood, using the same tools, but without the disadvantages. Over the life cycle of a playground, a Play Mart RSP set will far exceed the value of a wooden play set.
❖ Graffiti resistant!
Any parent or park director will tell you that graffiti is an all-too-common problem for most playgrounds. Stickers, etching into posts, markers and spray paint all detract from the kid-friendly play environment. Play Mart’s RSP makes graffiti removal very easy. Marker ink and spray paint come off with a cloth and light cleaning solution. Stickers also come off easily as they don’t adhere well to RSP. Small scratches “self-heal” into the material, while larger ones can be smoothed easily with no loss of color integrity.

On many metal playgrounds beautiful reds turn to pink, and yellows fade to a milky tan color – not the result you want when investing thousands of dollars into a play system.
