Playground Bonded Rubber is a great option as safety surfacing, especially around residential jungle gyms and play equipment. It is relatively easy to install. One handy home owner can install the entire surface under the right direction (which we are happy to give). Bonded rubber, as opposed to poured in place rubber, is a one layer system. Once installed, it will stay in place, even on a hill. Consistent depth makes it safer than loose material, which displaces all the time and demands constant raking. The only other item you will need is aromatic binders. You simply create a nice solid base around the play set, usually using compacted crushed stone. You mix the shredded rubber with the aromatic binders in a wheel barrow or disposable baby tub and you trowel the mix at the desired depth.
