Cleaning tools and mixers in a poured in rubber install

I am always asked the question: What. is the best way to clean my trowels and mixer in a poured in place rubber install. Clean tools are key in a successful install. There is nothing worse than a dirty trowel that catches the EPDM granules during the closing process. Trowels have to be cleaned right after the install and ready to go for the following one. Xylene is my preferred go to method to clean both tools and mixer. Simply wet the trowels in xylene and rubb them clean with a cloth. As far as the mixer goes, you have to pour a gallon of xylene inside the mixer, let it run for a while and then take a putty knife to scrape the wet EPDM granules off the blades. The following video shows how the mixer is cleaned.

Another tool that I love when I have a bunch of trowels is the Unbinder. All you have to do here is soak  the trowels in the unbinder solution overnight and all the grimbe will come off the following day. You can reuse the same solution a dozen times.

The following video shows how the unbinder works.
